An Anchor
As chaos unfolds and tragedies ramp up, it’s easy to find ourselves feeling fearful or helpless. We find ourselves asking “can I even trust what our leaders tell us is happening, what’s the truth?” Let’s remember there’s only one truth and that’s God’s truth.
Truth is I haven’t been able to breathe right since the floods in Texas. Because once you imagine your own child in that water, even for a second, you’re never the same.
The grief doesn’t belong to me, but it lives in my chest like it does. Because this is every parent’s nightmare. And for far too many families right now, it’s not a nightmare. It’s the day they will never wake up from.
It’s the ache of complexity.
We trusted in “normal.”
In weather that behaves.
In seasons that don’t turn deadly.
And whether it’s a flooded cabin or a war zone, there is no grief of a parent who sent their child somewhere they believed was safe.
So if you’re asking how to keep going in a world like this:
Start small.
Feel what you feel.
Pray A LOT.
Say their names.
Let the grief make you softer, not harder.
Let the grief move you, not to despair, but to presence.
To purpose.
To love.
Because men, politicians, governments, democrats, republicans… none of them will save us, save the world, or bring actual peace and justice. In fact, they’ll usually make things worse. Man is fallen. There is only one who saves!
Sit tight, watch what’s going down with wisdom… biblical wisdom and discernment and do not fear. He’s coming and He wins. We don’t know when, but boy oh boy, we sure are seeing those birth pains pop off. Floods in NC, TX, NM, ILL… Lies & deceit in DC and beyond.
Political theater. A bit obnoxious at this point?
The whole things a show.
Twisted, recycled play-by-plays.
Same bloodlines.
Same power games.
Just different masks.
Day to day? I stay aware. I don’t ignore the chaos, but I don’t live in it either.
I choose to build… my marriage, my family, my businesses, and my community of solid grounded folks.
Daily walks with God are a must these days. He is the only thing that gets me through… and He is the only thing that makes sense.
An anchor.
Everything else falls apart.
He doesn’t.
John 16:33 “… take heart, I have overcome the world.”
